Notes From the Designer:
Ciottolo is an Italian word for pebbles or cobblestone. The colors of the cardigan, as they fade into each other, and the brick stitch used throughout the garment reminds me of an old cobblestone road. This delightful cardigan is worked with CashSilk Sock yarn for an extra bit of warmth and luxury. Working stitches into the front loops and into rows below, like you would a spike stitch, provides beautiful surface texture. It is worked in panels and then seamed together before adding the sleeves, trim, and buttons.

- Pattern is written in smallest size with additional sizes in parentheses as follows: XS (S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X). Final stitch count for all sizes will be in parentheses at the end of each row/round. If only one stitch count is given, it is for all sizes.
- Correct gauge is important to the fit of this pattern. Please take the time to make a gauge swatch. Directions for this swatch are on p. 4 of pattern.
- Starting chain does not count as first stitch unless stated otherwise within the pattern.
- Pattern is worked in rows, except for the sleeves, which are worked in the round.
- Pattern is worked in a multiple of 4.
- Garment has 2-3” positive ease. Go up a size for an oversized look.
- Cardigan is slightly cropped and falls right at the top of the hips. To make it longer, add more rows before splitting into the three top panels.
- Work the last stitch of each row of ribbed trim into both loops for a nice, clean, and even edge.
