Filet crochet in mouthwatering shades of pinks and plums combines with a lacy border in rich purple, around three sides of the shawl. Match a favourite Whirl with a solid Whirlette for fruity goodness. Prefer a pastel colourway? Take a look at the Rainbow Cake Wrap.

Pattern Notes

This is an intermediate level pattern.

Body of wrap is worked in filet crochet using Yarn A. Border is worked on long side and two short sides using Yarn B; turn after each row. If preferred, use 4 or 4.5mm hook to work Border to prevent pulling in. Surface ss are added to neaten transition between foundation row of Border and Body of wrap.
When working from chart, work odd-numbered rows from right to left and even-numbered rows from left to right.
Filet crochet is a mesh of sts, forming a squared grid. At each side of each square there is a tr.
Each open square has 2 chs between these tr, creating a square ch-sp (ch-2 sp).
For solid squares, work 2tr into those ch-sps.
Beg squares of each row are solid squares which are started iwth a cstr.
Body of wrap starts with fdc.
Row 1 of Crochet Chart: Filet Pattern is a WS row.
