Clouds a delightful triangular neckerchief is inspired by a textile design of the same name, designed by Duncan Grant, a prominent member of the Bloomsbury set, in 1931. Clouds and rain over the duck pond at his home and studio, Charleston, were the inspiration for his orginal abstract design. I have then abstracted this further to create a knit-friendly intarsia pattern.

The neckerchief is knit from end to end commencing with just a few stitches, increasing at one side only until the desired number of stitches have been reached before decreasing at the same rate until the correct number of stitches remain for casting off. An I-cord style edging is knit into the piece so no additional edging is required. The pattern is worked predominantly using intarsia techniques, with small amounts of stranded colourwork (fair isle). Additionally embroidery and duplicate stitches are incorporated into the surface pattern after knitting has been completed. Links to helpful tutorial videos will also be included in the pattern, demonstrating some of the techniques used in this stunning pattern.

The yarn used is Byre Fingering weight yarn, which is spun from 100% British wool. The natural grey of Byre is dyed in the beautiful shades required to create the Clouds neckerchief.

Clouds includes both clear written instructions and full colour charts plus a handy schematic. Helpful video tutorials will be released in conjunction with the pattern on my YouTube channel - links to the tutorials can be found in the pattern.
