Brioche increases and decreases form a rich crown of thistles around this squishy hat. The pattern is written for three sizes; the bouncy, stretchy fabric gives it a flexible fit. Depth is easily adjustable for the perfect amount of slouch, or none at all. The hat uses small amounts of yarn and is a quick and easy project.

Yarn: Miss Babs Yummy 2-ply (fingering; 100% superwash merino wool; 400 yd/100 g) MC: Sand Dollar, 1 skein CC: Black Salt, 1 skein

Needles: One 16” 40 cm circular, US 2 (2.75 mm)
One set of US 2 (2.75 mm) dpns

Notions: Stitch marker, tapestry needle

Notes: The hat is knit from the bottom up.
The hat is written for three sizes; the measurements given are unstretched. Sample shown is in the largest size.
To lengthen or shorten the hat, work more or fewer rounds of two-color brioche after completing the chart,
before starting crown decreases.
The sample shown used approximately 100 yards of each color.
To make the decreases easier to execute, needles with sharp tips are recommended.
