Construction

  • The yoke of this cardigan is worked flat from the top down. The body and sleeves are divided at the underarm and worked separately to the bottom. Sleeves are worked circularly.
  • The garter stitch yoke is shaped using concentric rings of increases, distributed over the total yoke depth. The pattern uses an increase worked from the wrong side to create virtually invisible shaping when viewed from the right side.
  • The yoke is shaped using short rows to enhance the fit at the neck and shoulders.
  • Because the garment is worked from the top-down, it can be tried on as it is being knit. For this reason we encourage you to knit sleeves and body to custom lengths that hit your body in your preferred position (we’ve made suggestions if you do not want to knit custom lengths).
  • The instructions are for a straight, unshaped fit in the body. If you would prefer to work a shaped waist and/or hips, see the pattern’s Appendix: Waist Shaping Add-Ons for alternate instructions for waist/hip shaping to create a fit that suits your wearing preferences.
  • Aside from weaving in your ends, no seaming or finishing is required in this design!
