Pricing update: I have increased my prices to more accurately represent the work that has gone into the making of my patterns. All my patterns have increased in prices, however my newer designs have increased more than my old ones, as I feel I have learned a lot over the years and the quality of my newer designs is higher. The price listed reflects what I believe is fair for the work put into the design, however I understand that the price increases may be inaccessible to some and am offering some tiered discounts for those that need them.

A “Choose What You Pay” model is available for this pattern, allowing both financial accessibility and fair pricing. The buyer may pay what they are able while still valuing the hard work invested to create this design. Use the codes below in order to pay the price listed after each. Choose whichever price works best for you!

  • No Code – Full Price = $15.00 CAD
  • PK10 – 10% off = $13.50 CAD
  • PK20 – 20% off = $12.0 CAD
  • PK30 – 30% off = $10.50 CAD

I also offer a Buy 3, Get 1 Free discount! Add any 4 of my patterns to your cart, and use the code BUY3GET1 to get the 4th pattern free! Note: the free pattern will be the lowest priced pattern.

The Compass Crew Sweater is the crew neck and worsted weight version of my best selling Compass design line! It is inspired by the lines of a compass, with 4 raised lines down the front, back and both sleeves mimicking the North, East, South and West compass points, and the raglan seams mimicking the NW, SW, SE, NE lines. It has a crew neck with short row shaping, and is worked top down. The sleeves and bottom edge have a 1x1 ribbed hem. The sweater is designed to fall to a slightly cropped level. The pattern will have options for waist shaping if desired, and adding extra length.

Sizes offered:

30(34, 38, 42){46, 50, 54}(58, 62, 66, 70) inches
Sizes 62, 66 and 70 are untested. If you are interested in knitting these sizes and providing feedback to me, I would reimburse your pattern purchase and gift an additional pattern upon completion of the pattern and receipt of feedback.

To fit actual bust of:

24-28(28-32, 32-36, 36-40){40-44 44-48, 48-52}(52-56, 56-60, 60-64, 64-68) inches

Note: The sizes reflect the FINISHED bust measurements in inches of the sweater, and listed below the sizes you can see the actual bust range for each size. The sweater is designed for 2-6 inches of positive ease. To determine the size you wish to knit, measure your bust, and add 2-6 inches to find the closest size. If you are in between sizes, size down for a snugger fit, or up for a looser fit. My sample is knit with about 2.5 inches of positive ease.

Needles recommended:
5 mm / US 8 / UK 6 circular needles with a cord length that matches your bust circumference, plus either 16” cord/DPNs/32 or 40” cord for magic loop for the sleeves

4.5 mm / US 7 / UK 7 circular needles with either 16” cord/DPNs/32 or 40” cord for magic loop for the sleeves

May need other size needles to meet gauge
I recommend using a set of interchangeable needles, or a pair of circulars that match the circumference of your bust as well as a 16” or 32”+ for magic loop for the sleeves.

Gauge:
18 sts x 22 rows = 4 x 4 inches (stockinette, in the round, blocked)

Yarn recommended:
Any worsted weight yarn to match gauge. (you could also hold DK + suri held together)

Sample #1 (purple/grey tonal) is knit using Treehouse Knits Redwood Worsted (218 yds/100g) in the colourway Basalt.

Sample #2 (blue/green variegated) is knit using Treehouse Knits Dove DK (246 yds/100g) held with Truffula Cashmere (316 yds/50 g), both in the colourway PB & J.

Knitpicks Swish Worsted is a great budget friendly alternative yarn.

Yardage required:
680 (780, 875, 920){1000, 1080, 1150}(1240, 1315, 1375, 1450)
Yardage is an approximation at this point, and is calculated using the recommended length and no waist shaping. Allow for extra yardage if choosing to do any length modifications, especially if you know you have a long torso or prefer a longer sweater.
Additional yardage per inch of length:
21(24, 26, 29){32, 35, 37}(40, 43, 46, 48)
