Corner Brook
Growing from the centre outward, decreasingly wide stripes of simple lace and plush garter stitch alternate to form this cozy square shawl. Knit in a worsted weight yarn, this is an impressive piece with a surprisingly simple construction. MATERIALS
Approximately 1206 m/1320 yd worsted weight yarn
Shown in Cascade 220 Heathers (100% Wool; 201m/220 yd per 100 g/3.53 oz skein) in colour Aspen Heather (8011).
NEEDLES
One each 40 cm/16” and 80 cm/32” circular needles*, and a set of double-pointed needles (DPNs), size 6 mm/US 10 (or size needed to obtain gauge)
One set of DPNs a few sizes smaller than needed to obtain gauge (optional; used for the Disappearing Loop Cast On)
*Although all stitches should fit on the 80 cm/32” needles, you may wish to change to 100 cm/40“ or 120 cm/47” needles as the shawl grows.
GAUGE
13 stitches & 26 rounds = 10 cm/4” in garter stitch, after blocking
ADDITIONAL TOOLS
4 stitch markers (including one in a unique colour to mark the beginning of round), tapestry needle, blocking wires and pins
