Cosette is a sweet, lovely cardigan as fresh as spring. I named it Cosette because I was listening to Les Miserables while knitting it. It describes Cosette blooming into a beautiful young woman like the blooming flowers in the garden. The cables transitioning into lace in the stitch pattern is like flowers blooming from the cables.
This cardigan is constructed from the top down in one piece with saddle shoulders and set-in sleeves. The shoulders are shaped by short rows. There is no body shaping past the armholes; the lace panels add some natural shaping. The length of the body and sleeves are easily adjusted. This was my first time to use Miss Babs Yummy 2-ply and I love it! It is soft, has great stitch definition and the colors are wonderful!

Sizes:
Finished bust: 30.25 (33, 36.25, 39.25, 42, 45.25, 48, 51.25, 54.25, 57, 60.25)“ when buttoned. Modeled with 1” negative ease.
Materials:
Yarn: Miss Babs Yummy 2-ply, 100% superwash merino wool; 366m (400 yds) per 113g skein; color: Moss, 3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6) skeins, 1004 (1086, 1200, 1314, 1458, 1550, 1690, 1847, 1996, 2119, 2258) yds.
Needles: Size 3/3mm 24” circular needle and set of 4 or 5 double-pointed needles.
Other: Stitch markers (different colors), stitch holders or waste yarn, spare circular needle or waste yarn, cable needle, tapestry needle, size 8mm buttons (see notes below).
Gauge: 24 sts and 32 rows = 4” in Stockinette Stitch. 21-st Front Lace and Cable Panel = 2” wide. 49-st Back Lace and Cable Panel = 6.5” wide when blocked

There are a lot of markers used in this pattern to make the instructions more clear; you certainly do not have to use them all. I would suggest using different colors for the different lace panels.
If you change the stitch count for any of the Stockinette sections you will need an odd number for the Rib Border to work.
You can adjust the fit of the cardigan by the way in which it is blocked. A soft block (with no pins) will give a more fitted fit. If it is blocked with pins to stretch the lace out it will give a looser fit. The sample was soft blocked.
The buttonhole and button bands are worked as part of the body of the cardigan. The buttonholes are the double yo’s in the buttonhole band so you may use as many buttons on as you desire. I placed the buttons every 1.5” for the body and placed two in the ribbed band. On the sample I used the hole made from the first cable for the top button and used the double yo’s for the rest.
If you desire the lace and cables sections of body and sleeves to end in a curved shape like pictures, end in the lace sections of charts rather than the cable sections.
