Cosy
This has become my favourite winter sweater—whose title describes how it makes me feel. And more to its credit, it is easy to wear (and does not require layers), has my favourite hem (the shirt-tail), has my favourite side shaping (a little A-line), and has a wonderful but not challenging sleeve detail.
The yarn requirements, for the 5 sizes, are the following:
855 (950, 1045, 1140, 1235) yds
I decided, with this garment, to finally address short rows (used in the hem). I had never been satisfied by the “wrap and turn” directions nor with German short rows: both left tell-tale distortions. So for this garment I fiddle and ripped until I found the perfect solution—only to go online and find that this method already exists … and is known as Japanese short rows. And while I offer the link to an excellent video for this technique, within the pattern itself there are detailed instructions and photos for how to execute these.
PS I have recently made a tunic length of this pattern, to great success. It is shown in the blue-green, and the necessary changes have been made to the comments page.
