This is one of my favorite sweaters. So easy to knit and to wear! But what you see is not what was planned, and it’s one of my favorite knitting stories.

It began as a big sweater … which when done was toooooo big. I thought about ripping (a skill I have mastered), but when I pulled the fronts together—really, to see how small it should have been—I saw all that it needed … one monster front pleat! With the addition of buttons, it became the sweater it was meant to be.

The brown version is, of course, not the original sweater. It had to be re-knit, and the pattern re-written, with a smaller back and larger front (to allow for the front pleat). You will see this in the schematic.

The red and gray version is the original. I’ve loaded it on my PROJECTS page, but I can’t figure out how to get it over here as a project.
