Cozy Cable Raglan
Pricing update: I have increased my prices to more accurately represent the work that has gone into the making of my patterns. All my patterns have increased in prices, however my newer designs have increased more than my old ones, as I feel I have learned a lot over the years and the quality of my newer designs is higher. The price listed reflects what I believe is fair for the work put into the design, however I understand that the price increases may be inaccessible to some and am offering some tiered discounts for those that need them.
A “Choose What You Pay” model is available for this pattern, allowing both financial accessibility and fair pricing. The buyer may pay what they are able while still valuing the hard work invested to create this design. Use the codes below in order to pay the price listed after each. Choose whichever price works best for you!
- No Code – Full Price = $15.00 CAD
- PK10 – 10% off = $13.50 CAD
- PK20 – 20% off = $12.00 CAD
- PK30 – 30% off = $10.50 CAD
I also offer a Buy 3, Get 1 Free discount! Add any 4 of my patterns to your cart, and use the code BUY3GET1 to get the 4th pattern free! Note: the free pattern will be the lowest priced pattern.
The Cozy Cable Raglan is designed to be a simple, cozy sweater that has small cabling detail along the raglan seams. It is a great pattern to learn cables, as it is a very simple C2F cable stitch pattern! It is a crew neck style, and is worked top down with some neck shaping and optional bust darts/waist shaping. The sleeves are fitted and have a ribbed cuff. The sweater is designed to fall at a slightly cropped length but you are welcome to modify length as desired. It is intended to be worn with 5-10% positive ease. It is a size inclusive design with sizes written every 4” from 30”-70” finished bust circumference.
Sizes offered:
30 (34, 38, 42) (46, 50, 54) (58, 62, 66, 70)
Note: The sizes reflect the FINISHED bust measurements in inches of the sweater. The sweater is designed for about 5-10% inches of positive ease. To determine which size you should knit, measure your actual bust, and multiply by 1.05 - 1.10 (5% - 10% positive ease). Find the closest value in the above size list. If you are in between sizes, size down if you prefer a snugger fit, or up if you prefer a looser fit. Some testers did choose a size with more positive ease, which results in a more cozy, oversized fit, but keep in mind that the proportions will all be larger than intended for your bust.
Needles recommended:
6 mm / US 10 / UK 4 for ribbing
6.5 mm / US 10.5 / UK 3 for body/sleeves
I recommend using a set of interchangeable needles, or a pair of circulars that match the circumference of your bust as well as a 16” or 32”+ for magic loop for the collar and sleeves.
Note: You may need other size needles to meet gauge
Gauge:
4” x 4” = 13 sts x 20 rows
Gauge is using the body/sleeve needle size and working in stockinette in the round, measurements taken after blocking.
Make sure to complete a gauge swatch and adjust needle size if needed!
Note: If your stitch count is correct for gauge but row count is a tiny bit off, continue using this needle size, but keep in mind you may need to adjust your length a bit.
Tip: If you have never done cables before, or are not super comfortable, add a cable into your gauge swatch to practice!
Yarn recommended:
Any bulky weight yarn you can achieve gauge with.
I used The Frosted Stitch - Bifrost Bulky yarn (106 yds / 100 g) in the colourway Star Anise (part of the Spices Collection).
KnitPicks Swish Bulky is a great budget friendly alternative yarn.
Yarn alternatives used by testers:
Malabrigo Chunky
Estelle Chunky
Cascade 128 Superwash
Salty Blonde Fiber 3ply bulky
Patons Shetland Chunky
Universal Yarn Deluxe Chunky
Lion Brand Woolspun
Lion Brand Hue+Me
Malabrigo Mecha
Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek Chunky
Yardage required:
450 (540, 630, 740) (840, 930, 1025) (1150, 1250, 1320, 1420)
Note: Yardage is an approximation and is calculated using the body/sleeve lengths stated in the schematic on page 5. Allow for extra yardage if choosing to do any length modification. The yardage can vary depending on your gauge and knitting, so I always recommend buying extra in case you require more yardage. Most of my testers were under the recommended amount when following the recommended lengths for body and sleeves.
