Cozy Saltbox
Cozy Saltbox is the first pattern in my New England Village eBook.
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
Saltbox houses are easily spotted by their long slanted rear roof and commonly found in the New England area. The style was originally named for the wooden salt containers commonplace in the early American Colonial days. Use browns, mustard, brick or buttermilk for classic paint colors or try a white contrasting color for a snowy evening. The cloth is worked in mosaic garter stitch, just one strand of color works every two rows. Gauge and dimensions are provided in a light worsted weight yarn. Choose colors that contrast well. Try your camera’s “black & white” setting to look at your yarns in grayscale and check the contrast between your selection(s). The pattern provides full written instructions with (optional) positive and negative charts for making useful household linens and gifts!
