Croodie hooded poncho
This hooded poncho is essentially a wearable blanket with a fully lined hood, front inside lined pockets and a fleece lining inside. It is an oversized, one size fits all relaxed garment designed for lounging around ( and will also help to use some of that yarn stash… )
You can use any crochet squares, however this square pattern is included and the garment is easily adjustable for width and length to suit yourself. The squares are join as you go in sections to save time and so there’s not so many ends to weave.
There are separate video tutorials for
- the crochet square pattern
- the join as you go crochet technique
- the complete sewing and joining process to finish the garment
You do need sewing skills (or access to someone who can sew) for the lining.
One idea to make this project much quicker is to use a granny square blanket or squares that you have already made. Then it’s just a matter of putting it all together !
SKILL LEVEL
Intermediate crochet plus sewing skills ( or find someone who sews to help!)
MATERIALS
I recommend fingering/4 ply weight acrylic or wool yarn as cotton is too heavy.
Total 4,300 yards / 3940 metres of yarn in 13 colors ( designed for using up lots of colors from your yarn stash!)
3.00 mm crochet hook
scissors
tapestry needle
measuring tape
stitch markers
lining material; I used two fleece blankets
sewing machine, matching sewing cotton
hook and eye or snap closure ( optional)
