The Crowning Glory Lace Shawl combines the Crown of Glory Shetland Lace pattern with fern lace stitches to create a crescent shaped shawl. The pattern provides instructions for two versions; one with the final lace repeat creating a ruffle, and the other with a slightly different repeat that still uses the Crown of Glory stitch but has fewer increases in the final repeats and doesn’t have a ruffle. The orange and purple samples pictured are the ruffled version and the blue/burgundy and blue/turquoise samples are the unruffled version.

The repeats of the shawl combine a lace section and reverse stocking stitch ridges. The lace section is knitted in pattern on both right and wrong sides which is surprisingly simple once you get the hang of it. Whilst some people find knitting a lace pattern on both right and wrong sides daunting; the shawl has been very successfully knitted by testers for whom it was their first lace pattern.

It can be knitted in 2ply laceweight to 4 ply fingering yarns.

Completed size - approximate depending on chosen yarn and how harshly you block it - it can be blocked slightly larger with some yarns.
