The image of this 1871 knitting pattern from Mrs. George (Anne Jane) Cupples didn’t match her instructions. I changed row 5 and some decreases to make my swatch look more like the original image. This 6-row pattern has a repeat of 11 stitches + 4 edge stitches. I recommend using at least one size larger needles due to the large number of yarn overs in row 1. All those yarn overs make the knitting tight. The bottom edge of this pattern will scallop but the top edge can be easily blocked straight.

Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, YO, k2tog, SSK, p2tog, p2tog tbl and bind off.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
