Curly Kale socks are a fun accessory to knit for yourself or for gifts—using a sport-weight wool yarn, they work up surprisingly fast, especially if you are accustomed to knitting with fingering-weight sock yarn!
The texture pattern is based on a 2 x 2 rib which helps keep the socks nice and stretchy, and the cable-crossings and yarn-overs all happen together on the same rounds. This keeps the pattern much less complicated than it looks, and allows for some nice relaxed rounds.
The pattern is written for 3 adult sizes in which both leg and foot length are fully adjustable—along with the stretchiness, this gives lots of options for a well-fitting sock.
The sock is worked from the top down, and includes a Dutch (square) heel-flap and gusset, with the slip stitch on the back of the heel continuing under the bottom of the heel.
These are very adaptable socks, especially suitable for wearing with boots or gardening clogs for outdoor pursuits, or with your favorite sandals on cozy indoor days.
