The Current Socks are worked seamlessly from the cuff down, combining simple colorwork with a fluid and sculptural sock construction inspired by the movement of water. The socks begin with a folded cuff, worked in a contrasting color, and joined for a clean, double-layered edge that provides both structure and comfort.
The leg features a wave-inspired colorwork motif, worked in two contrasting colors to create a flowing, rhythmic transition between sections of the sock. After the colorwork, the leg continues in stockinette stitch, keeping the motif as the visual focus.
The heel has a short-row heel construction using double stitches for shaping, creating a smooth and comfortable fit without a gusset. Before the heel, additional stitches are gradually increased around the instep to improve fit and depth. Once the heel shaping is complete, the additional stitches are decreased, seamlessly returning the sock to its original circumference.
The foot is worked entirely in stockinette stitch for comfort and wearability. The socks are finished with a classic wedge toe, shaped with decreases, and closed using grafting for a smooth, seamless finish.
