Needles
US 5/3.75mm: circular needle 32”/81cm or longer

Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
GAUGE
27 stitches and 39 rows = 4”/10 cm in charted pattern stitch, after blocking
Gauge isn’t critical, prioritize choosing a needle that produces a nice fabric with your chosen yarn. Mosaic knitting will tend to draw in the stitch gauge. Consider choosing a needle a size larger than you might typically use for your yarn so the fabric will have some drape.
NOTES
The shawl is knit from point to point with an allover mosaic stitch motif. Only one color is used per row, slipping stitches to create the pattern. The stitch pattern is charted only.
Gauge is not critical for this project; you can make it with any yarn you prefer. If possible, weigh the skeins before you begin knitting.
Adjust the needle size to suit your yarn and work the Increase Repeat Chart until you have reached desired size or have used just a little less than half of the main color then begin decreasing.
The stitch pattern is charted. It is a large geometric motif that is easily memorized. This pattern includes a 2nd charts only PDF, the Cygnus Shawl Full Page Charts with larger format charts.
