I have now updated the pattern to add an optional breast pocket. Pocket openings can either be functioning or for decoration only.

Update Jan 2022:
Please note: the garment has been designed so that the side seams fall towards the back of the body as in a fabric waistcoat. This means that the Front is wider than the Back, as can be seen in the photos. The schematic will show the garment when laid flat, so both Front and Back measurements together, then divided in half.

Mimicking A traditional fabric waistcoat, this design by Jennie Atkinson has pointed front hems, false pocket openings, and a neat fit. The front pieces are knitted in bramble stitch, while the back is in stocking stitch. The side seams have been designed to fall towards the back of the garment, and have ties to pull the back in if desired. Jennie’s pattern uses a sportweight wool from John Arbon.

American knitters please also note that this yarn is actually more like a heavy fingering at 333m per 100g skein
