"Deep Ocean" Caped Tank
Skill Level: Extra Spicy: advanced shaping and lace knitting.
I honestly couldn’t tell you what the inspiration for this top was. It just came to me like a bolt out of the blue. After the initial idea, I spent weeks looking for lace patterns that reminded me of the ocean and trying to figure out how to incorporate them into the cape. For such an immediate idea, it took a long time to design and knit. Despite all that, it is one of my favorite things.
The tank is knit from 100% baby alpaca, which is so soft and light it will blow your mind. It is shaped along the princess line for a very flattering fit. I also provide shaping variations for petite and short-waisted people for a more custom fit. The cape is alpaca and silk lace weight yarn. It feels unbelievably good resting on your shoulders. It took time and focus to design and knit, but it was so worth it!
