The bold cable design on this stylish yet practical hooded cowl picks up the shape of leaves and entwining branches. The cables are simple on the cowl portion and then become more intricate on the sides and back of the hood.

The cowl is knitted in the round, while the hood is worked flat. On finishing the main body of the cowl/hood, stitches are picked up around the front hood opening and a small section at the front of the cowl. A casing is knitted and stitched to the inside of the hood/cowl for an I-cord to be threaded through as the tie.

Cable patterns are only charted.

Needle size clarification 16 Jan 2022:

The main body of the hood is worked in the size needles needed to obtain gauge, the size suggested in the pattern is US 7 / 4.5mm needles. Larger and smaller needles are used for the casing and i-cord where state in the pattern.

Errata: Chart Legend omits one symbol, an x over 5 stitches in the upper hood charts. This cross is for 2/3 LC Ktbl. 2 over 3 left facing cable, all stitches ktbl.
