Delaunay Cardigan
Inspired by a visit to the Sonia Delaunay retrospective exhibition at Tate Modern in London, this design mimics the artist’s experiments in pattern for fabric design – rows of dots, crosses, diagonals, cross-hatching and wavy lines.
Although Delaunay was more known for her strong, colourful graphic designs, I found myself drawn to her more intricate fabric patterns and her sketchbook work.
The cardigan is worked top down with an interesting, but not complicated, colourwork yoke section, has gathered sleeves and a bold contrast ribbing.
