Dream Weaver Baby Blanket
Inspired by a forthcoming nephew, “Baby Weaver”, this pattern just begged to include the basket weave stitch.
A combination of basket weave and columns with cable twists, Dream Weaver is an easy, cozy gift just waiting to be knit for the next bundle of joy in your life. This project makes a great first cabling project.
Pattern Tips:
-
This pattern is written to be knit with blockable wool, which will result in a nice, drapey fabric once blocked. If you prefer to use acrylic, you may consider knitting with a larger needle, to achieve a similar drape.
-
Customize your blanket by using a different weight.
-
If you’re finding that your blanket is shorter than you prefer, add extra repeats of the cable sections until you reach a more desired length. Adjust your top border so that it still falls in with the basket weave pattern.
Final Size: Approx. 36” × 24”
Techniques Used: knit, purl, 2×2 cable
Sample knit: Premier Yarns Dream, 531 yds, size
US 10½ (6.5 mm) needles.
