Named after the word for Wren in Welsh, this ribbed hat is worked in the round and features a beautiful yet simple to work lace panel for a modern and easy to wear hat.

SIZE (AFTER BLOCKING)
To fit adult head circumference
51 (56)cm, 20 (22)in
Actual circumference
39 (45)cm 15.25 (17.5)in) unstretched, after blocking
Actual length
23.5 (23.5)cm 9.25 (9.25in) after blocking
Note: the finished fabric is very stretchy and this hat is designed to fit closely.

YARN
Fyberspates Scrumptious 4ply
(55% Superwash Merino Wool, 45% Silk, 365 metres per 100g skein), 335 Pearl, 1 skein

Yarn note: Scrumptious 4ply produces a relaxed ribbed fabric due to the silk content. If substituting a yarn without any silk content, such as Vivacious 4ply, take extra care to check your blocked tension, we would suggest using a larger needle or knitting a larger size to ensure that the hat still stretches easily.

TENSION
48 sts and 39 rows to 10cm (4”) on 3mm needles in unstretched 1x1 twisted rib before blocking

30 sts and 42 rows to 10cm (4”) on 3mm needles in stretched 1x1 twisted rib before blocking

42 sts and 36 rows to 10cm (4”) on 3mm needles in unstretched 1x1 twisted rib after blocking

28 sts and 38 rows to 10cm (4”) on 3mm needles in stretched 1x1 twisted rib after blocking

The nature of the stitch patterns used cause the hat to relax significantly on blocking, so always check your blocked tension.
