Duke of Kent is named for the beloved English country dance, The Duke of Kent’s Waltz. The stole begins with a central square medallion patterned with twisted rib and texture, echoing the swiftly turning pinwheel steps of the waltz. After the medallion is worked in the round, live stitches from each edge of the square are then worked outwards to form wings. The wings feature linear patterns of texture and lace; double yarnovers in the lace create a natural scalloped edge that gives the shawl an elegant finish.
