Cables worked at a finer gauge always look very sophisticated. Raglan armholes add a refined aspect and make this a perfect piece for layering. Dress it up with a skirt, or down with jeans; you’ll be perfectly at home either way.
Work the body in the round from the bottom up, transitioning from the ribbed hem to the front and back cable panels, with stockinette worked on each side of the cable panels. Waist shaping creates a more flattering fit. A back keyhole opening means this shell is easy to pull on.

Someone recently asked me if this shell could be worn with the back slit in front, allowing the opening to fold to the sides forming a V-neck. I saw it displayed that way, and think that would be a great look! When I get the sample back, I’ll post a photo. In the meantime, if you want to make this shell that way, the front and back instructions should be switched so the slit is in front. For the back, omit the neck shaping and simply work to the finished armhole length. You’ll need about 64 to 70 yds (59 to 64 m) more yarn, but should be fine with the number of skeins of Darnie that are called for for all sizes but size Small, in which case you will probably need a third skein of yarn.
