Dyeing to Scowl
A scowl is an angry frown---sometimes. For now, however, a scowl refers to an accessory that can be knitted and worn as either a scarf or a cowl. This project is a lacy, fun piece to knit, and it is full of luxurious drape. The design includes a buttoned closure, so it can be buttoned and worn as a cowl, twisted and then buttoned for a moebius cowl, wrapped around the neck twice before buttoning to be worn as a neck warmer, or left unbuttoned and worn as a scarf. So versatile! It is light, so it can be worn in any climate. The pattern calls for Knit Picks Bare Gloss Lace yarn, but any fiber—any weight—will work. Gauge is not an issue. Want your scowl larger? Use worsted weight yarn and larger needles. So easy! Dye your bare yarn or knit it as is. Or do both, as I did!
