Eanrin is a Gaelic name meaning ‘handsome’ perfect for the handsome sock design that will show off any yarns. Eanrin is a sock pattern with an alternate construction. The entire sock is knit flat in a modular style with all the joining completed as you go. While the components of the sock are worked flat, the front/instep and back including heel flap and turn rows are knit along both sides of the centre and around one end. The combination of alternate knit direction and the beautiful self-striping yarn work together to create this fun sock suitable for both males and females.

Materials
Biscotte Yarns – Bis-sock (85% merino sw, 15% nylon, 400m; 434 yards per 100g skein) Quantity needed: 150-400m/165-440 yards. Shown in self striping color Fancy daisy.

Needles & accessories
2.5mm (US1.5) double pointed needles 25cm/12” or 80cm/32” circular (or size needed to obtain gauge).
Waste yarn or spare circular needle for holding instep sts.
Stitch markers (4) and removable stitch markers (4).

Sizes | XS (S, M, L) for foot circumference of 17.5 (20, 22.5, 25) cm
Designed to be worn with 1-3.75 cm negative ease.

Gauge | 32 sts & 40 rows = 10cm/4 inches in stocking stitch knit flat.

NOTES
• Begin at the centre front and centre back with Judy’s magic Cast on, worked in a “U” shape (refer to illustrations on page 5).
• Sole is knit in stocking stitch working back and forth while attaching the side of the instep
• All increases are worked at the toe and heel, betweeen the markers
• Leg length is measured from the ankle bone on the inside leg to desired length – construction is not suitable for making knee length socks
• If you wish to customise this design you need to remember that the cast on represents the length of the leg/instep and leg/heel flap, while the number of rows forms the circumference of the leg and the width of the heel flap and instep
• Increases in sample worked with backwards loop unless otherwise specified
• On the front/instep piece increases at the toe are - 3 stitches on row 1, 2 stitches on row 3 and 4 stitches on every right side row from row 5
• On the back/heel piece increase are – 3 stitches on row 1 and 2 stitches on every right side row from row 5
• The short row technique used on the toe does not use wraps instead; the current stitch on the needle is worked together with the stitch below it and will refer to KWSB and PWSB abbreviations (details under abbreviation list).
