The Endelaus Mitts are the third installment in the Endelaus-series in my Matchy-matchy accessory club. They feature a modified endelaus (endless) pattern repeat that originates in the village of Selbu in Trøndelag, Norway. Both cuffs and hands are adjustable in length. There are three sizes in total, all of which are charted.

Yarn
Sandnes Tove (100% Norwegian wool, 160 / 175 yds, 50g). 25 g mc, 35g cc.

Could be substituted with any sport to fingering weight yarn. You will get the best results if you use a non-superwash, woollen spun, sheep’s wool yarn. Alternatives: Rauma Finull, Hillesvåg Ask or Sol, Tukuwool Fingering, Jamieson’s Spindrift, etc.

Needles
Gauge-size needles for stranded colourwork, 1/2 mm below-gauge circular needles for rib.

The sample was made using 3 mm (US 2 1/2) for the stranded colourwork and 2.5 mm (US 1 1/2) for the rib.

Gauge
30 sts x 44 rnds = 10 cm / 4” in stranded colourwork.

Sizes
(1, 2, 3)
The sample is size 2, worn with 1.5 cm / 1/2” positive ease across the four knuckles.

Mitt circumference:
(19, 21, 24) cm / (7, 8, 9)”.

Hand length (adjustable): 10.5 cm / 4”.

Cuff length (adjustable): 5.5 cm / 2.25”.

Construction
The mitts are worked seamlessly in the round, starting with the cuff and finishing with the hand, both of which can be made to desired lengths.

Thumb gusset stitches are increased as part of the pattern and then stitches are put on hold and new stitches are cast on to continue working in the round.
