March 3, 2024--Class participants, remember to use the coupon code on the last page of your handout to get this pattern for free!

This shawl was designed to accompany the workshop, “A Trilogy of Triangles.” Here, three triangles create more of a cape design that hugs you around the shoulders, rather than the more traditional top-down triangular shape with a single central spine. The pattern is available separately on Ravelry, but participant workshops receive a copy of the pattern with their class handout.

The sample was knit with ESTELLE YARNS’ Eco Tweed DK, but the stitch pattern and shaping would accommodate yarns of different weights and fibres. This could be absolutely lovely in lace-weight mohair knit to a loose gauge, or it could be heavy and warm in a worsted weight wool. You could experiment (i.e., swatch) until you find your perfect match between yarn and gauge.

The techniques you will need to know--or learn--to complete this project are:

  • garter tab cast-on (instructions in pattern);
  • knit and purl;
  • yo increase;
  • k2tog decrease;
  • ssk decrease;
  • cdd double decrease;
  • lace bind-off (instructions in pattern).

Eugenia has one of the most impressive waterfalls along the Niagara Escarpment. Nice views of the falls are just a short walk away from your car.”
