Pattern Description from Interweave Knits, Spring 2007: “ An eyelet-stitch pattern, edged with a picot hem at top and bottom, makes a pretty bandeau. It’s worked in one piece and shaped slightly by changing needle sizes at the waist. Gathers made by decreases fall just above the bust on each front. Finished Size: 21 (25, 29, 33)“ bust circumference, buttoned and unstretched. rib is very elastic and will stretch to comfortably fit a bust 15” greater than relaxed measurement.

Yarn: Rowan Cashsoft DK (57% extrafine merino, 33% acrylic microfiber, 10% cashmere; 142 yd 130 m/50 g): #520 bloom (pink), 4 (4, 5, 6) skeins. Yarn distributed by Westminster Fibers.

Needles:

• Body - size 6 (4 mm).
• Hem and bands - size 4 (3.5 mm) and 5 (3.75 mm).
• Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Waste yarn in similar weight and contrasting color; markers (m); tapestry needle; eight ½“ buttons.

Notes:

• This bandeau is made flat in rows as one piece and shaped by changing needle sizes in the waist section. Picot bands border top and bottom.
• The buttonbands are worked separately and sewn to the body. Each buttonhole requires three rows to complete.
• The edges of the bandeau body - hems and center-front edges - are steamed gently. The body of the bandeau isn’t blocked.
