Fair & Simple Hat
Sometimes “simple” is best.
This hat has a traditional Fair Isle Snowflake, found in
Sheila McGregor’s “Traditional Fair Isle Knitting“, my favorite book of motifs.
Worked in Aran yarn, it’s a quick knit and makes a great “first Fair Isle” as there are never more than two colors on a round. The result is warm, easy to care for in superwash yarn and makes a great gift - to someone else or to yourself!
It’s a true unisex hat - change up the colors and change the whole effect. Notes are included for knitting and infant size in worsted weight.
Hat comes in Three sizes: Child, Adult & Large Adult.
Finished Circumference: approximately ( 18.5, 19.5, 20.5 ) in / ( 47, 49.5, 52.5 ) cm
Finished Height: approximately ( 7.5, 8.25, 8.75 ) in / ( 19, 21, 22.5 ) cm
Gauge: 17 sts x 22 rows = 4 in / 10 cm in stranded stockinette stitch, blocked
See last page of pattern for notes on creating this in infant size.
