This hat design is a real little house, with a roof, which we can wear to keep us warm wherever we go and put it in our pockets. It will probably cause smiles and melt away the frozen faces we meet.
It’s all about stranded colorwork - Fair Isle knitting technique. I applied a widespread, recognizable and commonly used (in textile design, fine art, interior design…) geometric native pattern and transformed it through my filter. The higher contrast – the better effect.
This hat is worked from the bottom up. It ends by 3-needle bind off. You have written pattern (in English), chart, photo & video tutorials for important stitches.
This pattern can be used for neck warmers, pillowcases, bags, blankets…

For this sample I used:
1. Sport weight yarns: MC-frozen light gray (~ 60gr of Ice yarns, Master Alpaca, 191yds~175m/50gr) and
CC- warm red (~ 60gr of Alize Superlana Klasik, woolen mixed yarn, 306yds~280m/100gr);
2. Needles: 16“(40cm) circular needles in US 4 / 3.5mm; an auxiliary needle for bind-off row; tapestry needle;
3. 10 stitch markers;
Size: one women’s / teens size (fits all).
Dimensions (flat, fixed, almost square shape):
circumference: 49cm/19.6”;depth: 23.5cm/9.4”;
3 sts I-cord length: 25cm/10”

Gauge ~24 sts x 24 rnds = 10cm/4”

It can be made in a child’s size, with circumference ~40cm and depth ~19cm.
For man’s size, it’s not easy to change a motive, but we can use one number larger needles (4mm). The gauge will be slightly different, of course.
