Traditional argyle patterns are made using the intarsia technique, with the thin diagonal lines added using duplicate stitch in a third color. The pattern in Farguile is a faux argyle, using stranded colorwork to create a similar vibe with less fuss.

This hat was created as an exploration of a new-to-me yarn. It features a deep ribbed cuff. The colorwork is finished before the crown shaping begins, so there is no need to carry the contrasting yarn while working the decreases.

The pattern is charted both as shown in the sample and with the colors reversed so you can choose the chart best suited to the hat you want to make.
