The Twaafald Tunics are a pair of a-line sweaters that compare and contrast two venerable Shetland stitch patterns: Feather & Fan and Old Shale.

The Feather & Fan Tunic is worked in two pieces: both front and back are worked top-down, by casting on two separate sets of stitches for shoulders, then joined and knit down to hem. Note the dramatic wave the lace pattern, as increases pull the fabric up and decreases pull it back down again. The multicolor yarn works beautifully with the lace ripples.
