Feather motifs with twisted stitches flow along the edges and run down the back of this beautiful cardigan to wrap you in warmth.

The cardigan body is worked sideways from front edges to the centre back and is framed with a band of feathers at each selvedge edge. The stitches of the body are left live to be used later in a decorative double bind off. Stitches for the feather band that runs along the top edge and around the neck are put on hold while working the shoulders and armholes, then resumed for the last few inches of the piece to the centre back. The front armhole is longer than the back armhole creating an English tailored shoulder for a sophisticated look and comfortable fit. Set-in sleeves complete the look.

#sizeinclusive to fit a 62” / 157.5 cm chest measurement.

This knitting pattern includes written directions, both charts and written instructions, front and back images, and a detailed schematic with measurements.

Shown in River City Yarns Epic Yarn (100% virgin wool; 200 m / 219 yds per 100 g), 8 (9, 10, 11, 11) (12, 13, 14, 14) balls.

Substitution Notes
Choose a heavy worsted weight yarn. Original is 100% wool that works up at 4.5 to 5 sts per inch (2.5 cm) on 4 to 5 mm (US 6-8) needles. Wools and wool blends will substitute well. Plant fibre blends and acrylics will probably also work well. 100% cotton will probably be too heavy. The best way to know is to swatch!

Knit Picks Wool of the Andes (affiliate) would be the perfect substitution for this now discontinued yarn.

Techniques
Increases/decreases, working twisted stitch pattern from charts or written instructions, double bind off, sweater construction, side to side, seamed, worked flat.
