This is an unusual, but eminently practical little item if you are a fan of those little pints of ice cream. No more trying to wrap paper towels around the container to keep your fingers from freezing! This cozy will not only save your fingers from frostbite, but it will help keep your ice cream from melting quickly. Wool yarn is easy to clean – just wipe off any drips – and can be hand or machine washed when needed (just use cold water and let them air dry).

You can crochet the cozy in an evening and in any color combination you choose. Make a set to match each family member’s favorite ice cream flavor - or maybe in the local sports team colors. Once the crocheting is completed, you will need to felt the cozy using any method you are comfortable with.

The pattern uses basic stitches – chains, single crochet, half-double crochet and slip stitches. You don’t need to have extensive experience, but you should be comfortable with working in rounds and with the stitches listed (and changing colors if you want to). I do not use abbreviations in my patterns, everything is spelled out, but if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email.
