Fern flower socks are one of the patterns from the Summer Sock Collection 2020. This collection is a story about Latvian Midsummer traditions. This design was inspired by the mystical fern flower that Latvian couples are trying to find on the nights of June 23rd.

They say the fern blooms that night and whoever finds the fern flower will be blessed with luck and happiness. Young people go off in the woods looking for the fern flower. Usually, they find this fern flower in next year’s March (9 months later).

Approximately
MC: 157 (182, 232) yards, 144 (166, 212) m, 36 (42, 53) g.

Yardage may vary if your gauge/yarn is different.
Gauge: 32 sts & 42 rounds to 4” (10cm) in stockinette on US #1 (2.25 mm) needles.
Needles: US #1 / 2.25mm DPNs (or circular for magic loop). If you are afraid of the tension of your floats, I would recommend using a size bigger needle for colorwork sections.
Or as required to meet gauge.
Other notions: stitch markers, darning needle.
