With the help of Finlay the Pygmy Seahorse this year’s Summer Competition will be a world-wide carnival of colour-matching!

These tiny seahorses are usually only 14-27 millimetres from the tip of their tail to the end of their snout, and are masters of camouflage. Hiding amongst the tall seagrasses and beautiful gorgonian corals of the deep, they are certainly difficult to discover.

This Summer we invite you to crochet Finlay, and find the perfect splash of colour to help him hide in plain sight, then share your photo and challenge us to #findfinlay whether that be in front of a painted wall on your walk to work, sat atop your colourful bookshelf, swimming in a pile of your favourite yarn, perhaps coordinating with your outfit, or posing somewhere picturesque on your holidays.

Snap a photo (or video) of your Finlay the Pygmy Seahorse hiding in colour-coordinated surroundings and share it with us on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok by tagging @toft_uk in the photo or reel and using the hashtag #findfinlay to be in with a chance of winning (stories cannot be judged). Five goody bag prizes each worth over £200 will be awarded over five categories and there is no limit to the number of entries you can make.

YOU WILL NEED: To complete your crochet animal you will need a few added extras including a 3mm crochet hook, toy stuffing, a wool needle and two centralisers to mark fin positioning (optional). Find everything you need in our haberdashery section.

MEASUREMENTS: When finished your Pygmy Seahorse will be approximately 27cm long from top of head to end of tail when uncurled.

SKILL LEVEL 3: This kit is more suitable for those with some crochet experience however a video covering all the techniques is available on our YouTube channel.

IT WILL TAKE: Approximately 1-5 hours crochet time.
