Fogtown Mitts use a sport-weight wool yarn in 2 or more colors. Long interval self-striping yarns work very well in this design. While 2 colors is a minimum, you can use more than 1 main color and/or contrast color as long as there is sufficient contrast.
This pattern is written in 4 sizes, from child small to adult large. Additional sizes can also be made by changing needle sizes and/or yarn weights, thereby knitting at a tighter or looser gauge.
This design can be worked as a full mitten, or a fingerless mitt, in all available sizes. The thumb includes a gusset, and the top mitten shaping is a rounded spiral-shape. This pattern is one of 5 in the Fogtown Set: Hat, Mittens, Mitts, Socks and Cowl.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
Circumference: 6 (6.8, 7.4, 8) inches
Length: 6 (7, 8, 9) inches
Changes to gauge or yarn weight, or adding length, may require extra yarn
GAUGE: 26 sts and 32 rnds = 4”/10cm on gauge size needles (over blocked colorwork)
NEEDLES:
US size 4 (3.5mm) needle(s) or size needed to obtain gauge
Choose needles based on your favorite method for working small circumferences in the round.

NOTIONS: 3 stitch markers, tapestry needle, 8-inch length of smooth scrap yarn
SKILLS USED: 2-color stranded knitting, reading a chart, working in the round, decreasing (k2tog, ssk), increasing (M1R, M1L), picking-up sts
