Folium Vitae Convertible Fingerless Mitts
Folium Vitae means leaf of life in Latin. These convertible mitts match my Folium Vitae cowl that shows the growth of leaves in the cowl, from dark green bud through color changing maturity.
These mitts are a take on convertible full mitts. An icord loop keeps the finger flap in place, or folds back to secure around a sewn on button.
Worked from the bottom up in the round, the mitts are basic lace knitting.
The gradient sample was created with a gorgeous custom colorway from Dawn at Ozifarmer’s Market. I recommend contacting her for your yarn. You can find her on Etsy.
The pattern is both written and charted. It has been both professionally tech edited by cyndi1717 and test knit by some extremely helpful people.
Materials:
Yarn: 200 - 250 yards (183 - 229 meters) DK weight yarn. The gradient sample is shown in Ozifarmer’s Market 8 ply cotton gradient, two matching 50 gram skeins in the Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! color way.
Depending on your gauge, you may use more or less yardage. It’s better to err on the side of too much yarn.
Needles: US 6 (4.00 mm) 30” (75 cm) circular for magic loop, or DPNs or two circular needles, whichever is your preferred method for knitting in the round.
Notions: darning needle, stitch markers to mark beginning of round and pattern repeats if needed.
Gauge:
23 sts and 26 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Chart 1 leaf pattern knit in the round and unblocked.
Measurements:
Arm Circumference: 7” (17.75 cm)
