The Frame Hat makes a graphic color statement in a simple,
wearable beanie. It’s a great project for showing off a single,
special, hand-dyed skein.

The hat is made with a series of garter stitch mitered squares,
which are joined together as they are knit. Stitches are
picked up along one edge and knit downward for the ribbed
band. Stitches are picked up along the other edge and
worked to the crown, with decreases arranged in spokes.

A locking stitch marker is used to mark the center stitch of
the mitered squares. Place this marker on the stitch, not on
the needle. As work progresses on the square, move the
marker up toward the needle periodically so the center stitch
is always easily identified.
