Freya Shawl
Intro Offer: get 25% off until Monday 4th May at midnight BST with the code FREYA
The first Goddess shawl, in the series of three, is the Freya Shawl. Freya is the Norse Goddess of Love, as well as many other things! I love everything about this wearable simple accessory. I chose some luxury yarn to knit this sample which is going to be a gift for Rach.
This shawl includes the Cluster stitch design element from the Beks shawl. The crescent shawl is created by knitting sideways, ensuring you never have too many stitches on your needle. The design is created with an icord on each edge for a neat finish.
The pattern stripes mohair with fingering weight yarn creating a soft and light weight shawl. I have knit the sample in tonal Cashmere Fingering Weight and Mohair Silk lace yarn. It would be just as lovely in contrasting colours. I’m also going to make a sample just in mohair. You might see that on our podcast one day!
Information
Yarn: 1 x 50g (220m) fingering weight sock yarn and 1 x 25g (210m) silk mohair lace.
The shawl sample is knit using Cashmere yarn from Sandnes Garn in colour way Burgundy and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive in the colour way Bordeaux
Suggested Needles: US 4/3.5mm or needles required to get gauge.
Gauge: 27 sts x 40 rows to 10 cm/4” over stitch pattern. Gauge is less important in a shawl, however, if your gauge is looser than specified more yarn will be required.
Measurements: approximately 170 cm/68” wingspan, 20 cm/8” depth.
