Backyard chickens are fun to have around, and the fancy Golden Laced Polish variety are no exception, with their fancy bouffant crest of head feathers. Their head feathers obscure their vision, resulting in funky movement and behavior at times. They were the inspiration for these mitts and my matching Funky Polish Chicken Socks.

The cuff is worked with twisted stitches for a clean look. Bobbles along the cuff edge resemble eggs. The textured base of hand stitch pattern represents chicken wire fencing. Optional head feathers are added as an embellishment.

Designer used 14g CC1 (green), 2g CC2 (white), 7g CC3 (pheasant), 2g CC4 (yellow), 25g MC (grey).
