Gardis” is part of the new collection of patterns inspired by the “Monti Pallidi (Pale Mountains)”, a chain of mountains in the Italian Dolomites.
Many years ago there was a terrible precipice near Mount Balèst. A Lord had built an impregnable fortress and castle near this precipice with the help of a powerful sorceress who promised that the fortress would remain intact unless a young girl died within its walls. The Lord was a very cruel man and imprisoned anyone who dared to question his authority: his one weakness was his granddaughter, the lovely Gardis, from whom he hid his true nature. One ill-omened day, Gardis discovered the secrets of the castle and the dozens of prisoners. Distraught, she tried to free them, but in doing so she fell and was gravely injured sealing the destiny of the Fortress. When the Lord found his dying granddaughter, he saw the error of his ways and freed all the prisoners. Then, hugging the young girl to his chest, he plunged to his death along with the Fortress.

Gardis” is a short sleeve sweater worked top-down. The round yoke is embellished by a simple, but elegant lace motif.
The body of the sweater falls softly from the underarm and opens like the petals of a flower.
All edges of the sweater are trimmed with a decorative lace motif and garter stitch border.
