The lifted-stitch pattern used in these mitts makes me think of flowers in an Impressionist painting, so they’re called Giverny after Monet’s gardens.

Fingerless mittens may be stylish for cool but not cold days outside, but where they are really useful is indoors, in cold houses or offices; keeping the pulse points in your wrists warm actually makes a surprising amount of difference to how warm you feel overall.

The pattern is intended for a sock yarn on the slightly heavier side, not fingering; yarns that would work well include Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock Multi, Regia 4-ply, KPPPM, or Colinette Jitterbug. Short color changes are best to show off the lifted-stitch pattern.
