Glenda's Treasure Box
I’ve been making small crocheted treasure boxes for about 20 years, but when a good friend requested one for her mother I knew I couldn’t use just the standard pattern I had been using. It needed to be a special piece for a special lady! Read the story here.
These boxes can be worked in any of your favorite solid or variegated colors, and can be embellished or left plain. The crochet stitches used are not difficult, and I include step-by-step directions for starching your completed project. Also included are directions for the tiny crocheted flowers and leaves.
This treasure box is designed to be starched over a 12 oz tuna or chicken can as a drying form; any other cylinder 4 inches across by 2 inches high would work. You will also need on hand some cornstarch to cook your own starch (instructions included) or your preferred alternate starching method or brand of commercial fabric stiffener.
