God is a Woman
The sweater is inspired by Freja, the Norse goddess of love, magic and beauty. In the centre of the sweater, the cats that pull Freja’s chariot can be discerned, symbolising sensuality and independence. Freja’s golden tears, which in myth express the creative power of sorrow, are reflected in the small open cables, while the larger cables are inspired by Brísingamen, Freja’s radiant necklace and a symbol of strength and desire. The flowing moss stitch pattern draws on the lightness of falcon feathers and represents feminine independence and a journey of the soul, while the vertical lines refer to the Seiðr staff, Freja’s tool for magic and insight.
