Asymmetric jacket with a tailored fit uses embroidery and beading for an elegant, vintage effect.
“This jacket knitting pattern is an homage to couture tailoring, and a lovely vintage evening dress I saw, heavily embroidered with threads and glass beads,” says Judy Furlong. The shaping is achieved with decreases positioned within the lower section colourwork, side shaping, darts and short-row shaping at the bust. The decoration is a combination of intarsia and duplicate stitch – the beads are stitched on. “The yarn for the duplicate stitch is firmer and finer than the main yarn – don’t pull these stitches too tight but rather let them sit on top,” Judy says.
