Granny Splits Blanket
Granny Splits Blanket Pattern US terms
(if you are after U.K. Terms this is available as a separate listing in my shop)
There are so many layout and design options with the Granny Splits square!
This pattern will show you how to create a rainbow ombre version, but by simply turning, increasing rounds, decreasing rounds, or changing the colours of your squares you can create your own verion of the Granny Splits blanket.
The pattern comes as a 15 page PDF download, with comprehensive instructions and heaps of step by step photos!
Instructions include -
- Step by step photos for making the squares, joining and the border.
- Information on how to calculate the pattern to your own custom sizing or colour way.
- blank charts to assist you in planning your own colourway.
The pattern provides sizing information based on using DK Cotton yarn yet you can use whatever size yarn you like with a granny square. It’s hard to give a guide to yarn usage as the pattern gives lots of options with sizing and colour combinations, but an estimate of 600gm for a baby blanket should give you an idea to start.
To replicate the rainbow version pictured you will need approx 40gms of each colour and 70gms for the border.
I used a 4mm hook with cotton DK yarn. I recommend a 4.5mm
with Acrylic DK and a 5.5mm with Acrylic Aran.
This pattern is easy enough to be used by a beginner who knows their basic stitches, yet it is different enough from your standard granny to be enjoyed by an intermediate crocheter too.
Stitches used are
SC / DC = Single / Double Crochet
HDC / HTR = Half Double / Half Treble Crochet
Sl st = Slip Stitch
DC / TR = Double / Treble Crochet
PS = Puff Stitch
I am more than happy for you to sell any finished products, although I’d really appreciate it if you could give my shop the pattern credit.
